About meJD Leonard Race Car Driver "Listen, Learn, Execute" 2009 LatemodelMadison International Speedway Madison, Wisconsin Biography J.D.'s racing career started with cart racing at Sugar River (WI) Raceway in middle of the 2002 season. He won 11 races that season including the Don Fairman Memorial race as a rookie. In 2003, he raced in the cart class again at Sugar River Raceway as well as a Dodge Neon at the dirt track of Lafayette County Speedway in Darlington WI. At the end of 2003, Leonard was asked to drive carts for Team Swiss of New Glarus, WI and won 9 races and never finished outside the top 3 all season. During 2004, he raced the Limited Late Model at Rockford (IL) Speedway as well as Lake Geneva (WI) Raceway, receiving rookie of the race honors 5 times.In 2005 he piloted a ASA Latemodel at Madison International Speedway collecting one heat win and a couple top 10 runs and a impressive performance at the annual short track championships at Rockford speedway by qualifying 12th and finishing 9th.Leonard then moved his attention the USAR Procup series in 2006, traveling nationally across the United States. Racing on a new track every week against some of the most competitive drivers in the country proved challenging, but successful for Leonard as he collected one rookie of the race honors and 1 top 10 run. The following 2007 season Leonard once again proved he belonged in this competitive series by collecting 2 top 20 finishes and 2 top ten runs. This season was proving challenging for him. He had many very good runs, however due to circumstance out of his control he was taken out of the race.In 2008 JD took time to concentrate on his studies and start Supreme Trailers (The company his father and he own)In 2009 JD Leonard appeared again on the racing scene again proving his racing skills by winning 2 heat races and 3 top 10 and 8 top 15 finishes. He miraculously won a race by starting in last position and finishing first in the fall of 09. Also during the 2004 season, he was the points leader in the super stock class at Sugar River Raceway. J.D. was the youngest driver in the class! Team Swiss decided to change tracks and started to race in the very competitive WKA Lite class at Badger Kart Club in Dousman WI. In only his third start J. D. became the only driver in 2004 to beat the current WKA Lite champion. At Black Hawk Farms Raceway near Beloit, WI, a four-mile road racetrack, J.D. raced in the WKA Lite class against drivers from all over the Midwest, expertly handling his cart at over high speeds and finished second in his first start at this track.
